The Divine Service

lutheran church open bibleOur service is called "The Divine Service" for two reasons...

  • It is called "The Divine Service" because the word divine refers to God who is the center of the service.
  • It is called "The Divine Service" because "God serves us first" by giving us his Word and Sacraments which offer forgiveness, life, and salvation.

Because the great blessings of forgiveness, life, and salvation are offered to us in the Sacrament of the Altar, we offer Holy Communion every Sunday in every service.      We receive what God gives with thanksgiving and, only then, praise him in return.

Lutheran Worship is...

Approximately 85% of our service is taken from direct quotes or paraphrases of Holy Scripture which instruct us in the Christian faith.

Jesus Christ is present in our service through His Word and Sacraments. “Lo I am with you always” Matthew 18:20.

Divine Service
Worship is primarily about receiving God’s gifts of forgiveness, life, and salvation. In thanks, we then serve and praise God for all He has done for us in Christ.

The ultimate joy in life is knowing with certainty that, despite the fact that we are great sinners, God loves us and has forgiven all our sins through Christ!

The use of our liturgy and repeated orders of service allow participation in worship by the youngest of children to the oldest of adults since parts of the service may be learned by heart.

Our service emphasizes the absolute, unchanging, and eternal truths of God’s Word.
